President Obama Speaks on the Death of Nelson Mandela
President Obama says that Nelson Mandela’s journey from a prisoner to President embodied the promise that human beings, and countries, can change for the better, and asks that we pause and give thanks for the fact that Mandela lived — a man who took history in his hands, and bent the arc of the moral universe toward justice. A true icon and role model is leaving us with the greatest legacy humanity could ever ask for or aspire to; let’s make sure we honor the respect, forgiveness and change for the better he worked so hard to attain in his and our lifetime.
Human right, human decency is something we ALL deserve from…
No, I’ve never met him. No, I did not know him personally. I am not South African, I am not black, and I am not a minority. Actually, I’m a white Jewish girl from southern New York who seems not to have had any connection to this man other than possibly having watched Invictus.

this is a beautiful response to the very sad news of Nelson Mandela’s very recent death. it reflects many of my own feelings towards Mandela and hopefully this love that the Author has for Mandela will inspire a little fire in your heart with the desire to not only learn more of his wonderful life but do more with your own. RIP Nelson Mandela. and thank you to the authir of this article.
It is an interpretation of Antigone by Sophocles, set in a prison that is alluding to the prison where Mandela was held for 27 years. It is absolutely brilliant.
I am grateful to even have existed in the lifetime of such a great man.
Last night I took some mushrooms and coloured with crayons. This is the result.
Well shit, that seems like something everyone should do at least once.
oh wow. if i wasn’t scared of taking drugs, i would freaking love to see what would happen if i tired, omg.

DAY ONE (1)
my favourite book is definitely the prisoner of azkaban because it introduces two of my favourite characters to us readers. it’s also the movie that, in my opinion, slowly grows with the children preparing them and giving them information on a war that they don’t know they’re going to have to fight for if that makes any sense! i know many say that the growth to adulthood happens in the graveyard scene in goblet of fire, but in poa they learn the history of the marauders, harry’s mother and father and what they were fighting against and who. the same who that they were unknowingly getting prepared to fight in the future.
i admit, it’s hard to pick ONE favourite book from the series, they’re all fantastic for their own reasons and meanings. but i’ve always stuck, very strongly, with poa and will continue to do so!
